Acer palmatum 'Mikawa yatsubusa'

Very unusual fan maple, extremely dwarf in growth, almost a natural bonsai without any pruning! (Japanese: yatsubusa = dwarf) Twigs deceptively "twisted", grass-green shoots in May, leaves densely crowded, arranged like roof tiles, in clusters above the twigs, single leaf 5-lobed, middle lobe clearly longer than the others. Golden yellow in autumn. Only about 80 cm tall when 10 years old. One of our favourites of the fan maple assortment, also perfectly suitable as a container plant!
